واژهٔ ایران در پارسی باستان «آئیریانا» و در پارسی میانه به شکل «اِران» بوده، و به معنای «سرزمین مردمان نژاده و نجیب » است. کردها هنوز ایران را با همان نام کهن «اِران» تلفظ می کنند.
واژهٔ «آریا» در زبان‌های اوستایی، پارسی باستان و سنسکریت به ترتیب به شکل‌های «اَیریَه» ، «آریَه» و «آریه» به کار رفته‌است. همچنین در زبان سانسکریت «اَریَه» به معنی سَروَر و مهتر و «آریاکَه» به معنی مَردِ شایستهٔ بزرگداشت است و آریایی به زبان اوستایی «اَئیریان» و به زبان پهلوی و پارسی دری «ایر» خوانده می‌شود . ایر یعنی «نجیب» و جمع آن «ایران»به معنی «نجیبان» است. این واژه در اوستا به گونه« ایران ویج » نیز آمده است
نام ایران به معنی «سرزمین نجیبان» است و مدت‌ها پیش از اسلام نیز نام بومی آن نیز ایران، اِران، یا ایرانشهر بود.
از ۶۰۰ سال پیش از میلاد تا ۱۳۱۴ (۱۹۳۵) در میان اروپاییان با نام «پرشیا» که همان «پارس » در دوره هخامنشی است شناخته می‌شد که در سال ۱۳۱۴ در شرف تأسیس لیگ ملل با درخواست رسمی رضاشاه پهلوی همان نام بومی کشور(ایران) نامیدند.

چند روز قبل با چند نفر از همکاران درباره سبک نگارش در ورقه های امتحانی صحبت می کردیم. همه اشتراک نظر داشتیم که هر سال وضع نگارش عجیب تر می شود. از معلمان دبیرستان هم این موضوع را شنیده بودم .
اینکه زبانِ نوشتن؛ محاوره ای، و غلط های املایی هم بسیار زیاد شده است. نکته جالب آنکه یکی از معلمان دبیرستان تعریف می کرد که وقتی به دانش آموز میگویم
به جای" اصلا" یا " اصلن" ننویس " اسن" ، پاسخ او آن بود که همه جا اینطور می نویسند. وقتی می پرسم منظورت از همه جا کجاست؟
می گوید: تلگرام و دیگر شبکه های اجتماعی
دوست دیگری تعریف میکرد که چون عمل نوشتن در این روزها فقط به تلگرام محدود شده است چند روز قبل در یک نامه اداری دچار تردید شده بود که بین " لطفا"، " لتفن" و "لودفن " کدام یک درست است؟
واقعیت آن است اگر همینطور پیش برویم در چند سال آینده زبان فارسی نابود خواهد شد. به این کلمات توجه کنید: "عحسن"، "کصافط"، "جک"، "این ب اون در"، "مصلا"، "عمانت" .
می بینید که هیچ قاعده مشخصی در بکارگیری این کلمات وجود ندارد.
مثلا "خواهش" به " خاهش" تبدیل می شود و " جوک" به " جک"!
بعضی ها " لطفا" را "لطفن" و بعضی ها هم" لدفن" می نویسند. می توان نوشتن " اینقد" به جای اینقدر یا "فک کنم" به جای فکر کنم را درک کرد ولی عحسن به جای احسن را نه.
یک مطالعه نشان می دهد که برخی از اعضا شبکه های اجتماعی چون حوصله استفاده از نشانگرهای تصویری(استیکرها) را ندارند سعی می کنند لوندی، شیطنت، شوخ¬طبعی و طنازی خود را با دست بردن در نحوه نگارش کلمات نشان دهند. کاش بتوانیم دقت کنیم و این کار را نکنیم. مسأله؛ بکار بردن کلمات بیگانه یا غیر بیگانه، نگارش فارسی یا فینگلیش نیست.
مسأله رشته رشته کردن شاهنامه فردوسی و آتش زدن آن و دیگر آثار ادبی و پریدن از روی آنهاست!
